How to stand out with a great domain name?

How to stand out with a great domain name

Showcasing your great idea with a professional website can help you
stand out.
A great place to start is by choosing and registering a .com
domain name. Millions of businesses around the world choose .com for
their domain name extension because it’s universal, trusted and
recognized.

Use this checklist for helpful tips to choose a .com domain name and start
building a website today.

1. Create a plan to build your website.

  • Choose and register a .com domain name for your web address. Quick tip: Even if you decide not to build your website right away, a .com domain name still provides you with a memorable and consistent web address for your business.
  • Decide the purpose of your website (e.g., blog, e-commerce site, online brochure).
  • Decide if you want to build your website yourself using a website builder, or if you want to outsource it to a professional. Quick tip: Many website building tools are now made with small business owners in mind, helping you to easily create a great website with simple tools (such as “drag and drop” functionality). You may want to try website building out for yourself first before enlisting professional help.
  • Choose a hosting company. This is the company that will “display” and manage your website online to make it accessible and viewable to users.

2. Define your website requirements.

  • Develop a list of wants and needs for your website.
  • Determine what is most important to have on your website today, and what can be added later. Most websites evolve over time.
  • Determine what website content is essential and create it. What information will your visitors find interesting and valuable? At a minimum, make sure your website includes several ways for people to contact your company, such as your custom business email address and telephone number.

3. Promote, maintain, and optimize your website.

  • Think about how visitors will find your website, and list your web address everywhere possible, including on business cards, packaging, printed materials, signage, social media, advertisements and online directories. Also, consider search engine advertising and a custom business email address as a way to strengthen brand recognition.
  • Understand how your website is performing and who is coming to your website by using tools to help analyze your website traffic. Your website builder or hosting company may offer website traffic analytics as part of your package.
  • Continually optimise your website and develop useful content for your visitors based on traffic data and user feedback. Make a monthly plan of things that need to be done regularly. Set a schedule and dedicate the time you want to invest. If your website and content are set up correctly, you may not need as much time as you think to maintain your website.

While this checklist can offer a good starting point in building your website, it’s important to understand that a website will require additional time and effort to maintain if you wish to grow your business.

10 Last-Minute Christmas Gifts That Don’t Feel Last-Minute

The holiday season is very much upon us, and you’re still stuck on a special gift for someone on your list? Here are some last-minute gift ideas you’re welcome to steal.

We get it: you’re a very busy person. Christmas shopping takes time and brainstorming for gift ideas often leaves you drawing blanks. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. Christmas can still be saved, even if you’re reading this on Christmas Eve! Whether it’s for your dad (who has everything) or the friend you didn’t think to buy anything for (sorry, Emily), here are 10 safe bets for a present that feels like you put more thought into it than you did. Bonus: some of these gifts are so last-minute, they can even be bought online during your family holiday party while you’re hiding from your relatives in the bathroom.

  1. Experiences

Experiences usually make far more memorable gifts than objects. You can go big if this is for someone special like your spouse or your parents, or think smaller if it’s for a sibling or a friend.

Get them tickets to a concert they would enjoy, a day pass for a spa, a museum or zoo membership, tickets to a botanical garden or national park, or vouchers for travel (travel fare, and/or special accommodation in an Airbnb, glamping campground, or hotel.)

Best of all, if you organize an experience together, then you get to enjoy the gift as well!

2. Online classes

Not sure about booking in-person experiences in changeable times? Then go for a virtual experience instead! Sign them up for an online class so they can finally learn how to speak French, dance the tango, write their novel or cook like a pro—the options are endless. Check out Masterclass or Coursera for starters. Do they need a little relaxation? Buy them a subscription to a mindfulness or yoga app they can use at home. Arts lover? Get them tickets to a livestream concert or performance.

You can book this online at the very last minute — perfect for procrastinators.

3. Charitable donation in their name

Is there a social issue that your loved one is passionate about? Do they love animals or spending time in nature? Charitable gifts are a great way to honor a special person by helping those in need. Whether you choose to donate to the homeless in their area, refugees, or prefer to support animal welfare or natural conservation; your donation will be appreciated.

You can donate in a matter of minutes online. So if you’re on the way out to a holiday party and desperate for a present, you can’t go wrong by doing good!

4. A themed basket from your everyday shops

Compiling several small items into a themed gift elevates basic items into a thoughtful present. You can pick up these items when doing your weekly shopping—no extra errands needed.

For example:

  • “Movie Night”: popcorn, candy, drinks. Add a few movie recommendations, a soft blanket, or some cozy socks or slippers to bring this gift up a notch.
  • “Wine o’clock”: nice wine, chocolates, and nibbles. Add some wine glasses if you like.
  •  “Home Spa”: combine some bubble bath or bath salts (or use the ones you made from Tip #7), a nice hand or foot cream, a face mask, and a scented candle to make a home spa kit. Add a loofah, fluffy towel, bathrobe, or some slippers to round out the gift.

5. The last book you read and loved

Gifting a book you love is an invitation for a shared experience. Write them a note telling them what you loved about the book and inviting them to share their thoughts about it once they’ve read it. Bonus: support your local bookshops! If you’re short on time, give them a call to ask if they have your book in stock before you make the trip.

If you have time, pair it with a mug and some tea or cocoa from your local supermarket or a snuggly blanket, and you’ve created a cozy “cuddle up and read”-themed present.

6. Subscription to a magazine related to their interests

If you know the person has a certain hobby or interest—from art to cooking, cycling, or travel, there is sure to be a magazine subscription that would interest them. A few minutes of Googling and you’ll be able to sign them up for a year of interesting magazines. They’ll think of you each time it arrives!

7. A houseplant

Bring a little bit of greenery into their winter with a new houseplant. A quick stop at your local hardware store, flower shop, or garden center is all you need. Ask for a plant which is tolerant and easy to care for. Add a pretty pot and a sweet treat to complete the gift. Think it’s too generic? Give the plant a funny name and try to trick them into thinking they’re about to unwrap a new puppy.

8. Framed photo of a special shared memory

Personal gifts are always best. Just because you’re short on time doesn’t mean you can’t give something personal. Many drug stores and supermarkets allow you to print out photos instantly, directly from your phone—and most of them sell simple photo frames as well. Tick their Christmas gift off your list while you’re doing your normal errands.

If you have a bit more time, consider creating a photo gift such as a calendar, photo album, mug, T-shirt or pillowcase for your loved one—just be sure to check the delivery deadlines to be sure it arrives in time for Christmas.

9. Quick DIY: Bath Salts

DIYs don’t get much easier than this and you’ve probably got the ingredients lying around your house already. If not, then they’re easy to pick up next time you’re at the supermarket.

Easiest Bath Salts:

  • 3 cups coarse salt: Epsom salts, pink Himalayan salt, sea salt, or Dead Sea salts all work. Or a mixture of all of them!
  • ½ cup of baking soda for each jar of salts
  • 20 drops of essential oil: try lavender, sweet orange, rose, etc. A quick google will give you lots of combination ideas.
  • Optional: dried flowers to make it look pretty (loose leaf herbal tea works great here. Chamomile is readily available at most supermarkets)
  • Optional: 2 spoonfuls of coconut or almond oil

10. Edible Gifts

Last but most delicious: Whether you’re a natural in the kitchen or not, edible gifts are always a safe option. Go for nicely packaged sweets, wines, or coffee at your local supermarket or whip something up in your kitchen.

If you’re willing to prepare something, then baked goods, cocoa mixes, or “recipe in a jar” kits are straightforward and crowd-pleasing gifts. Look for simple recipes using ingredients you already have to save time.

Fall Design Ideas to Keep You Warm

Fall at last! You could say it’s the April among the seasons with all of its surprises. This year still with summerly temperatures, but that will soon change. Find out how to reach the year’s third level in style after the jump.

Fall, autumn, equinox, harvest season – the season when leaves become more colorful before they disappear completely, just like the daylight. As we make big strides towards the dark, we can look forward to long nights caved up at home, watching reruns of Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings. Gingerbread is already readily available, and we’re gonna munch on it until we’re fed up with it come Advent season. The ever-present pumpkin will be presented to us in soups, on our porch, and on walks past every Starbucks when catching a whiff of Pumpkin Spice. Let’s pull ourselves together and master the three stages of grief HRUMPH fall with confidence.

Early fall or lukewarm withdrawal

Special features: Fall’s saffron flowers.

With temperatures still in their 70s, we’re blessed with what the white man has coined an Indian summer. Phenologically speaking, early fall begins when the black elderberry ripens. But you won’t need the reassuring look of plants in their bloom to know it’s getting colder when the morning chill hits you before you get into the car. You just know it’s fall when you run back into the house to grab a sweater or jacket. Mind you, this is just the beginning and gentle foreboding of what the colder season has in store for us. While you’re enjoying the last days of the sun’s gentle caress, its golden light can’t hide the fact that here, too, a farewell beckons. A word of advice: Grab the first pack of gingerbread – it won’t taste any better this year than it will right now – and whisper “Fare thee well!” to summer.

Feel the full force of Fall

Special features: Chestnuts and acorns wherever you tread.

The full force of fall – do we have you scared already? Hello darkness, my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again. But how can we still look at the bright side of life? In vino veritas is what the old Romans would tell us, implying that being under the weather is more fun once the wine harvest is done and bottled. The choice is all yours – a nice and freshly fermented red, white or rosé will make your day that little bit sweeter at the end of the day. You can also heat up your wine and add a pinch of cinnamon, some cloves, lemon peel and star anise to make mulled wine. And you know what else will be good this year? The mask you’re wearing to defy Corona will fend off other viruses like the flu, which is a timely bonus. And – lest we forget – you can have your mulled wine with gingerbread 😊

Late fall is proper fall

Special features: Foliage everywhere, except on the trees.

We’ve seen it long coming, and you can bet a dollar to the donuts that we’ll eventually be reaching the inevitable hight of fall. When heating costs get through the roof and pumpkin spice is the loudest smell wherever you go, you know you’ve reached Proper Fall. Your newly ordered daylight lamp keeps burning all day long, and you can’t tell Early from Late – because it’s always dark! And that weather. Brrr. Friends want to meet up with you in town at 6pm, but you’re already past benevolence. Somebody calls you and asks you to join. You pick up your phone, hand quivering with cold as you answer in a trembling voice; “Sorry, I can’t, because… November!” And as you’re watching your anxious FOMO turn into joyous JOMO, the comfort of your home offers you all you ever crave with its cuddly cushions and blankets. After all, November is just the best month before December kicks in, because we all know what happens then. I’m looking at you, mother in law, and your dried-out turkey.

You see? It ain’t all that bad. Equipped with the right munchies and drinkies, your autumn survival kit can make all the difference. Tell us about your strategies in the comments!

5 Gift Ideas that Virgos Will Love

Need a gift for a Virgo? They are easier to please than some! As an earth sign, Virgos are very practical people and creatures of habit, making it easy to find something they can appreciate. With Mercury as the ruling planet, Virgos are alleged to be attractive, intelligent and have a way with words. Beyoncé is a Virgo as well…

Virgos have a reputation for nurturing a deeply rooted ambition that can be their undoing. You can help the Virgo in your life to relax a little by showing appreciation for their qualities. You can trust a Virgo like no other zodiac sign, their word are like gold. They work relentlessly hard for success and the people they care for! Here’s your chance to return the favor.

The Virgo in Astrology

Period: August 23rd until September
22nd

Symbol: A beauty queen

Planet: Mercury

Element: Earth

Colors: Blue, purple and dark green

Reliable Companions

It’s fair to say that Virgos want things perfect and will do everything they can to improve things that aren’t. But they have the same dedication to the people around them and will try to help you succeed. Virgos are the most reliable among the zodiacs, and you can trust a Virgo in charge to take their responsibility seriously. Need them to be there for you at 7am? You won’t need an alarm clock. And with a Virgo as your partner, you won’t get anyone more supportive and loyal to have your best interest at heart. This custom T-shirt says it all.

Kind but Shy

Patience is a virtue, and it’s definitely one that Virgos possess. A Virgo will always try to see the good in someone. They are usually modest, a bit shy, and make for loving partners. If a Virgo cares for you, they will give their all to do good by you. It may take a while for the Virgo to open up to new people in their lives. Once they do, they make the best of friends and attentive conversationalists. “Ain’t that a contradiction,” you may ask? Well, Virgos secretly love to connect with others, and their friendly nature will allow you to approach them.

Critical Thinkers

Virgos love to work hard for their goals and have high standards in how they go about things. This can make them come across as not just critical thinking, but over-thinking. The mind of a Virgo is constantly occupied with how they can make things better while considering all the ifs and buts there are. This means that they are great planners with a tendency to put a bit too much thought into everything. And sometimes this can lead to overthinking the emotions of their partner in a relationship. This custom face mask is for critical thinkers, all zodiacs welcome.

Stubborn Heads

As a creature of habit, a Virgo can be particular about their ways. Having thought everything through twice already, they can be set on their idea of how to run the show. You’ll find it hard to convince them to change their minds and accept a different opinion, which can of course make communication a bit more difficult. A word of advice: be thoughtful with your words so they don’t come across as criticism. A custom sweater will remind them of their occasional fallacy.

Creative Minds

Virgos are as creative as they are passionate about things they care about. Creativity is one of their strongest suits, and they tend to excel in the arts and creative writing. You’ll find many a Virgo in love with dancing and creative use of media as well. Having said that, they also like developing deep intellectual connections where they make for great conversational partners. They show a keen interest in their partners’ feelings and ideas, even though they do it in a subtle way. This custom mug says you know.
